To kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee

Rating: ☆☆☆, a good read

Review by: Santonio

What my book is about:
To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee is mostly about 2 children (Scout and Jem.),and their father Atticus, and how they hear a lot of people calling their father a “Nigger Lover”. Scout has a problem keeping control of her temper especially when someone’s talking about her father in a bad way.

The character I felt most strongly about:
Atticus because he knows how to ignore people when they say things about him.

What the main character has learned and how I think they’ll change:
Scout learns how to kinda control her temper. By the end of the book scout will be much more mature and she will be able to fully control her temoer.

How this book gives me hope (or not):
The book gives hope by showing that not all white people are racist. The also makes you feel less hopeful by showing how many racist people are.

How the story would be different if told by someone other than Scout:
The book would be less interesting.

What my book is about:
This book is about mainly scout reflecting on her days as a child. In the book it illustrates basic human rights being violated. Theres a lot of racism and inequaility.

The character I felt most strongly about:
scout because my parents often try to hide things from me to try and protect me

What the main character has learned and how I think they’ll change:
she starts learning about racism

How this book gives me hope (or not):
it makes me feel hopeful because it shows how much the world has grown. But we still have to work on it.

How the story would be different if told by someone other than Scout:
it would change the pov. and the understanding of whats going on.

To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee

Rating: ☆☆☆☆, I love this!

Review by: Riya

What my book is about:
This book is told from the eyes of scout Finch. You learn about her father, Atticus Finch, who is a attorney who is defending a African American against false accusations. You also learn about Boo Radley a mysterious neighbor.

The character I felt most strongly about:
I feel very strongly about Atticus Finch because steered his children, Scout and Jem, on the morally correct behavior which was quiet difficult during that era.

What the main character has learned and how I think they’ll change:
Scout learns to see things from other people’s perspective. She learns that people have both good and bad qualities. She will be more understanding and will think twice before judging people.

How this book gives me hope (or not):
The fact that Scout and Jem seem to understand this and agree that injustice is wrong gives us hope for the future, since they are the next generation of Maycomb county.

How the story would be different if told by someone other than Scout:
Scout is very little and innocent because she is very young. She is very clueless and hard headed. She lives in the era where racism was a big issue. She is learning about what life is like. she is learning about reality.

How this book gives me hope (or not):
it gives me more hope that mean people and rude people can change
