My current book type: Historical Fiction/Characters different from me/Character driven/seeking knowledge/to feel something

Willow is a 15 year old slave who is about to be forced to marry another slave whom she does not love or even like. She is enslaved as both a black person and a female. She knows there is more to life and decides to leave on the Underground Railroad with a free black man named Cato.

Willow is a strong female character who is going to make a difference in her life. She also feels strongly for other people. The book is a great character study and unique look into a tragic part of American history. The book clearly show the moral dilemmas, opression, and heartache of slavery.
